As writers, we all know how important the setting of the story is. After all, every story has to take place somewhere. And that somewhere matters. The same scene shot in different places will end up being different scenes at the end of the day. Most of us are familiar with the idea of location scouts in the film industry. These mysterious individuals who hunt for good locations to shoot scenes. But I’m not sure many of us are familiar with the actual day-to-day job of it. I wanted to get an insider’s take on it. So here is my conversation with Malaika Johnson.
